ARTS TEACHER
Duties & Essential Job Functions
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging instructional activities using IHS’s competency-based curricular model, as well as frequent integration of literacy and the arts
- Develop unit plans using the IHS unit planning template
- Submit course syllabi quarterly using the IHS template
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
- Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs
- Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
- Administer standards-based classroom assessments and utilize assessment data to inform instruction
- Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development and provide students with regular feedback
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing IHS rules and procedures
- Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs and student organizations
- Serve as an advisor and implement advising curriculum
- Participate in professional learning community meetings, parent meetings, and behavior intervention meetings
- Serve on senior portfolio panels and IEP meetings when necessary
- Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Experience in teaching, tutoring, or working with urban, at-risk youth is preferred
- Bachelor’s degree
- Illinois Professional Educator License

- Align curriculum using the YCCS Essential Skills Framework (ESF).
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
- Identify and select different instructional resources and methods to meet students' varying needs.
- Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
- Use relevant technology to support instruction.
- Administer standards-based classroom assessments and utilize assessment data to inform instruction.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development and provide students with regular feedback.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing IHS rules and procedures.

- Keep up to date with developments in subject area, teaching resources and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities.

MATH TUTOR
Duties & Essential Job Functions
Follow recommendations from the Assistant Principal and assigned teachers in addressing the needs of students struggling in math.
Supervise students in completing math practice through our online program, Carnegie Learning.
Collaborate with Math Teacher to provide in-class support.
Work with individual students and small groups of students in understanding and completing content-specific assignments.
Promote habits and strategies that will help students take responsibility for their own academic growth and success.
Collaborate with the Special Education Teacher in accommodating students with special needs.
Substitute-teach when necessary.
Follow agency’s policies and procedures in rendering services.
Serve on senior portfolio panels when necessary
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
